| Materials are all laid out, 1095 steel, 416 stainless steel guard stock, stabilized koa wood from Hawaii and some black spacer material. |
| Cutting and grinding the profile |
| The grind is good! |
| Drilling and countersinking the holes in the tang. I drill some for the pins in the bolsters and the handle bolts. The rest are for general lightening and balance. |
| Marking the center line all around, then moving to the grinder to taper the tang. First it gets a hollow down the middle then flattening out the taper |
| Now the bolsters are ruffed out and drilled for the pins that will be hammered in later. |
| Grinding the main bevels everything is turning out pretty well. Grind is good! |
| Time to clean everything up prior to heat treating. Since I am going to quench in water, the prep work is key to success. |
